Thousands to Celebrate Chinese New Year
ReplyDeleteI am an international student, I am from China. It is the most important holiday in China, just like the christmas in States. It is the time all family member get together, all my family member sit around a huge table make food and have fun, all the kids can get new clothes, and new year gifts, I remember when I was kid, I was excited about Chinese new year. The last things, I love about it is the fireworks. During the year, all the kids are doing the firecrackers, When I was a kid, I always make my parents to buy lot of them. I had the best time in that.
I love fireworks too! They're hard to find in Tucson except for the Fourth of July. In Springfield (my hometown) we had some for New Year's. I hope you have a nice Chinese New Year this year too!
DeleteOn November 16, 2013, the student from U of A try to transform some places into temporary parks for example parking spaces. I think its amazing because many people involve into this program, not only the staffs, but also the people who live in Tucson. Because people need to accept this program and really do something for it like putting 15 bikes into a car parking spaces or just stopping drive in that day. So people can have their own method to make up this city and have a really different place to hang on with buddy.

Very interesting! Yes, parking is a big problem. That's why I always ride my bike, even in the rain, even when it's cold, even when it's night! Luckily I live pretty close to school. I know some of you live a little farther away.
DeleteFrom this article we can see that the University of Arizona is a very good and advanced school. Students and people on U of A did so many things in the past that we can be proud of today. We can be proud of our basketball teams and other sports; proud of medical staff (people such as Andrew Will, Dr. Allan Hamilton and others) and our programs in medicine; also, we can see some good researches that are top-ranked, such as tree-ring research and research for planetary exploration. At our University it has a good space science program that we can be proud of. These things make our University widely known in the world. Each student must be aware how much success the University has behind it, but we must also make an effort to do things that would make the University even more effective in the future.

Tjasa, it's a pretty well-known school. My undergraduate school was similar, but I'm always surprised when I'm in other cities, and everybody knows about the UA. Maybe it helps that we have a good mascot, the Wildcat!
DeleteThe Chinese New Year Festival, it is also called Spring Festival. I am so exciting, because it is coming soon and the Confucius institute at the University of Arizona is hosting the Chinese New Year Festival. It is the most important festival for all of Chinese. It is also the day of reunion among family members. During these days, people would visit their relatives and friends,have big meal together , everyone will say happy new year and wish you make fortune to each other. One more thing, people would put some money in red pocket, the amount in it of course would very much depend on financial status of the persons, every children will be given red pocket by their elder which means they will be good luck in this year. Playing firecrackers is also a popular game for almost children. About foods, dumplings and sweet soup balls are traditional foods druing this festival.

The Chinese New Year's Festival is usually a really good one, so please go if you can. I think the International Office helps Chinese students get cheap tickets. Two years ago we played for it (I play with an orchestra).

For example Chinese music, dances, songs, martial arts, tai chi, folk arts, acrobatics, Peking Opera selections and more.The UA's Chinese New Year Festival, also known as the Spring Festival. There are more than 2,000 people are expected to attend and more than 200 performers from 15 local. This festival makes Chinese students feel at home feeling. Also I think this festival is mainly to promote the Chinese culture and hope the festival will be a bridge between Chinese and American culture.

For the Chinese, the most important festival of the year is the Spring Festival, on this day, it means that all difficulties and hardships have in the past, people will start the New Year. On the eve of the Spring Festival, Chinese people will try their best to back to home to enjoy Spring Festival with their family.Even if the body is in a foreign country, it also don't change the Chinese homesickness and the blessings of relatives in the country. But I also pretty amazing about there are more than 2000 people are expected to attend and the performers from 15 local in the United States. For me, that's the biggest surprise, everybody remember the Spring Festival and present the Chinese music/dance/arts. As the news said, sharing our culture to the world will create better understandings, it is the approximately chance to improve the community and recommend our country.

DeleteThe blog I found in UANews the title is “Growing a local food movemen is a step into the past for Desert Museum researcher.” This blog is talk about the a researcher who work at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum with partners at the University of Arizona and the National Park Service named Jesus Garcia. He found some heritage fruit trees in original Southern Arizona locations. Then Garcia brought his heritage trees to Tucson. Also, he made a film name “A Taste of History,” was support by a lot of Arizona local agriculture. Gary Pual Nabhan who is ethnobotanist and one of the founders of Native Seeds/SEARCH point out that the local food movement will improve the local economy. He gave an example about the beef. Diablo Burger, was open in Tucson but the beef they use need to send the local beef to Colorado for butchering and processing. Nabhan want through this forum can stimulate the local-food economy. This forum was opened at January 14 and 15. Garcia use his own fruit in Tucson point out that the citrus, bountiful fruit amid the seasonally defoliated white pomegranate, quince, fig and aprocit trees are still grow at Tucson in January.

Very interesting! Actually, a lot of research is being done at the UA. It's amazing to find out how many scientists, etc. are working right here. Are you taking some science classes this semester?
DeleteWhen I first saw the news Thousands to Celebrate Chinese New Year at UA, I was attracted by the title Chinese New Year. I miss China so much.. And it is an important holiday in Chinese culture as the news said. Chinese New Year, we can also call it Spring Festival, has more than 4,000 years and many special customs like martial arts, tai chi, folk arts, acrobatics, Peking Opera selections which will performanced in Jan.25. Also, it's worth mentioning that Confucius Institute came to UA and hosts the Chinese New Year Festival. Make more people know more about Chinese customs.

DeleteAs I searched, I find a blog named “Winter Fest is coming” posted on 12/10/2013 talks about three big events were going to hold by UA. First event’s goal is helping east students into their week of finals on 12/11/2013. Same day, UA mall would provide some coupes and academic support to reduce their pressure. Last one, during the whole day on 12/20/2013, there are many things going to be happened, such as, free exercise classes and massages. After I finished this blog, I think I made a right choice to study in UA. Based on those kinds of evens, I will enjoy my UA life. Because of it is a colorful life.

ReplyDeleteThere are ten days to Chinese New Year, is the most popular festival in China. In China, people celebrate festival by firework, paste couplets, reunion dinner, and lucky money. I feel exciting about this every time, but this year I was in USA.
ReplyDeleteTell the truth, I am sad about during the holiday without parents. However,The UA will host the Chinese New Year Festival on this Saturday, featuring Chinese music ensembles, martial arts masters and Chinese folk dance groups. This show makes me feel very cordial, It is also an opportunity to show about Chinese culture and characteristic. I wish it can make more foreign to interest in China.

Wow, I had no idea that there were ten days! That's very exciting. However, don't go to tooooo many parties! Do you have a ticket to go to the show?
DeleteAmericans start to eat two different types of food-sweet potatoes and yams. A lot of african slavery used were confused with sweet potatoes and yams.Because they looked same.Actually,they aren't related and not even close.First,yams have more starch than sweet potatoes.Second,they have different classification.Yams belong to "monocots",sweet potatoes are classified as "dicots".The third,cause of people prefer to eat local and fresh food,sweet potatoes,which is easy to find in the U.S,with a short growing seasons,instead of yams into many families,gradually.And they start to eat the roots of sweet potatoes for their healthy diet.In my opinions,I would like to eat yams,I like the taste and it is easy to find in our country.

ReplyDeleteThe wildcats did it sunday night with a 73-53 win over USC, which pushed the team to 17-0 and the record for the best start in school history.
Today, we talk about the UA basketball history. My roommate from Chicago. He said:"I like UA basketball team, it's famous team, it's very strong." I think so.
The UA basketball team have score better than other university teams. " we just have to keep doing what we're doing at practice every day." Mcconnell said in anticipation of the rivalry matchup. " we can't over look any opponent because Arizona state is very good. The UA basketball team get better grades. They can't leave endeavor for themselves such as strong exercise, lots of motion and so on.
After that, in my viewpoint I think that if we want to get better grades, we need learn UA basketball team that bear hardship and started hardwork. We will get better grades in the UA life.

The news talk about the research team are concentrate on growing up the strawberry in tucson area. Firstly, the plant sciences professor in the U of A is called Dr. Chieri Kubota said that the strawberry in the US is horrible and decided to grows the winter strawberry in the green house. The member of team said they just know a little about how to grows strawberry and Tucson is very different from other place. The one of group member hold the solution that just make the environment like California, Because it's good for the strawberry grows in the high humidity environment. Then they make the goal, California are most cares about the shelf life, but in Tucson they are more likely to concentrate on flavor. Finally they want some famers to join them research to spread strawberries to other space, not only California.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting. When I was young, I got to go pick strawberries with my grandpa. They grow very well in Illinois. And then my grandmother would clean them and put sugar in them and put them in a jar. We would enjoy them all summer long. How do you like to eat your strawberries?

DeleteFrom this Blog the writer has a new life and she is living in Lithuania. And set up a farm to grow their own food to eat. It’s cool. Of course, It is difficult for her to raise pigs. Because she don’t know everything. But I think it’s a good idea, she can try to do it. And she never to go to the supermarket to buy meat. Sometimes meat may be unsafe. For example the meat had been injected clenbuterol. If you eat the meat with clenbuterol, it will make you in danger. So eat their own food, she don’t think there will be dangerous. It’s safe.
