  2. This article talks about the UA Academy policy. UA aims at providing opportunity for current student to study abroad. And over 100 abroad-study programs will be added into summer semester. The author introduces this policy and totally agree it. What's more, he makes use of other people's sayings to reinforce his statement. It is rhetorical strategy of logos.

  3. I read an article looks like to encourage student study abroad published by Terrie, but personally, I think this article’s purport is indistinct, because it also looks like a piece of news. Although, it gives specific data about the participant of former semester, and also a picture which is took when a student study abroad to shows the program is pretty welcome by student, and U of A has a great international circle to cooperate with other countries, but it doesn't give much detail or brief introduction about a specific program. If this is an article about encourage, students’ comment should be the most important part, because this is a program designed for student, students’ comment has more referenced value. And it shouldn't be a photo of only one person, but a photo took by a group of people study abroad together. Otherwise, this article should focus more on data report.

Yes. That's the common mistakes about introducing study abroad program in U of A. Believe it or not, at the end of the article, it even talks about the enrollments of international students. For me, that's pretty wired and unacceptable. It supposes to be more focused on the program

    1. I think that the rhetorical strategy use by the author is Ethos, because he is trying to appeal to values and emotional sensibilities when he talks about animals, which is effective in certain cases.

  5. I am a sports fanatic. Inarguably, the article discusses whether two 7-footers should be the starter in the following game based on advanced statistics. Honestly, I was shocked by the numbers. According to that, Ristic should replace the veteran center Tarczewski as the starter for Wildcats. In this scenario, back-up center Ristic appears to be more efficient when he was on the court, especially his ability to grab rebounds, points. As the article mentioned, 'tough to truly gauge a player’s importance or worth to a team without implementing advanced statistics'. We are capable of analyzing our athletes, not merely on eye test. From my perspective, that sort of analysis is the optimal way to evaluate the player. You will perceived by those visible stats rather watching on their performances.

    2. Dusan was my summer school classmate, he puts a lot effort not only in class, but also in the field. For this page, as you said, if the author wants to sell Dusan, he should just ignore Tarczewski, focus more on Dusan’s physical argument instead of compare Dusan with Tarczewski. Make all eyes on Dusan.

The CEO of Chipotle says that he wants, to change people’s minds so that it encourages people to eat more tofu. In this article, the strategy of pathos, Is used because the title is “Buy sofrita, get free burrito”(Walker). It’s very convincing for people to notice the word “FREE”, because then the customer will read the details and know how can they get free burrito from Chipotle.

But I think the author can introduce more about the food not just the deal. Because after I read this, I’m Chinese I know tofu, but I’m sure not everyone knows tofu. If author provides a little more detail, let the audience know what kind of food is it, maybe will get more people go to Chipotle.

  7. I read the article named “Student moving abroad to study”, in this article Terrie Brianna talks about how the number of students abroad increased in this last year and all the benefits that an experience like this has in a resume. It is very interesting for me that the second smallest international group was the one from Mexico even when it is the neighbor country. The author use the rhetorical strategy ETHOS because her article is based on the credibility of the people she is quoting like an international consultancy, and in all the data she is using. I think that the use of that rhetorical strategy is very useful because it makes the article interesting.

What's more, the raised founds will be used for building infrastructure related to health improvement. The author uses some sets of data to inform us that obesity is really an inevitable problem nowadays in US. Just as its name implies that we can use a special form that called reusable laminated order forms to reduce paper waste. Because ordering forms that in the restaurants always need to waste thousands of papers per day. This is such a terrible way for us to make our life becomes more environmentally friendly. So, we have to use a new positive way to reduce the paper use. Although this kind of form has an obvious disadvantage—it is hard for merchant to regain the reusable form from the customers during the busy time, in the slower time, this way still plays a vital role in preventing waste.

It's great that many students from overseas get their experience somewhere else rather than in their own country. By being in an environment different from where you are from really helps you see and learn different problems from many different perspectives. Since people from all the over the world think differently, maybe because of their traditional lives, or their habits, or even behaviors. By having students from all over the world come together, thinks helps us gain new and fresh ideas that we had never thought of ever in a million years. So, that's that.

This film is generally using a story of a girl's memory of her teenage years, which base on the real experience of Kelli Horan (the film maker) herself. Also, this article mention this film is not yet produced because of the lack of financial aid. She wish people who have the same feeling as her or want to use movie to talk about teenage issue seriously can fund her movie. The most effective words in this article is "If you have a story to tell and you have a passion for it, just do it." from Horan's advice for her current film student. I agree with her opinion. As a teenager, if we don't have our passion to show people our story, when can we have the chance again? Personally, I am really looking forward to this film.

For those people who commute to work, the dropping price of gasoline helps them to have spare money to import their daily meal. However, the economic expert hold different point of view. They think the oil price has only $17 space to drop by not causing the global economic recession. This article is considered pretty convincible.First reason, the article is using a lot of words that's from experts' mouths. Second, even some words are not from experts in economic field, the words are from people who are experiencing the oil change themselves which the words can be considered real and true. A proposal for a 2% sales tax increase on junk food purchased int he Navajo Nation is currently heading to the Navajo Nation Council for consideration. The article used a lot of numbers and data to emphasis on the serious issue of obesity in the native americans society. For example, The office of Minority Health reported that Native Americans and Alaskan natives are 60% more likely to be obese than other race. Since the Navajo Nation stretches about 27,000 square miles throughout eastern Arizona, Utah and New Mexico, we should really pay attention to the people around us, to build a health environment. The 2% raise of sales tax could really help in educating people about eating habits and build more recreations, parks and exercising spaces for everyone to enjoy. 2% is not a dramatic change, but it can still make people think before they purchase unhealthy food.

  31. "Lightning Research Strikes UA Professors as Incomplete"

Similarly to many other articles in the science category, I read about an article focusing more on researches about lighting. Numerous researchers had been studying about this fascinating and interesting phenomena such as David Romps and his team. Their main objective is to come up with a model that can somehow predict the number of lightings occuring in the United States. Some had said that there are more lightings every decade and some says that it lessens. Nobody can point fingers and say that person is wrong sine this is on a hypothesis rather than a fact. No one can predict the future, right??? Making this model needs to be take into account multiples of different factors. We are not talking just climates and temperature, but also the environment, human activities, and so forth. What the researchers had realized that making a model like this is a complex job to achieve and their limit is to only be able to get close to the right prediction and not know exactly what will happen. We all know nobody can read the future except God. Anyways, The link to the article is below so click it:

The author said this show will be larger and include many new performances to attract people to attend the show. I think it works, because there are still a lot of people interest in Chinese culture.

  34. The University green fund program received a budget come directly out of student tuition from the committee this year. Many projects are benefited from the green fund project and finally students can get benefits from the program. Greening the game is one of the project that currently funded by the university’s green fund program. Greening the game tried to “green” the athletic game like recycle the waste material in the stadium and it really see a lot of success. The green fund now grows rapidly as many students get involved and work for it. The sustainability of UA campus can actually realized and improved by our joint efforts without an end.

  36. I read an article is about Hazardous waste risk, and how properly by UA. This article attracts me, because this article has a relationship with public health. In the modern society, Hazardous waste risk treatment to people, and people always want to know some organizations how to transact it. In the article professionals use difference way to translate difference Hazardous waste, like some biological waste will be incinerated, and use an autoclave to increase press to kill biological waste, and for the most part, waste is stored in a secure facility, until it doesn’t have treated to people. http://www.wildcat.arizona.edu/article/2014/11/hazardous-waste-risky-handled-properly-by-ua

  37. I read an article called "Shocking Waste of 72 million Tons of Food." I was actually shocked by the amount of food that had been wasted by peple all over the world. It's abbout a third of what people eat go to waste. Researchers said that this mass amount of waste can feed about 870 million hungry people in the world. However, people decide to throw it in the trash or let it go wasted. When it is wasted, it goes to a disposal area where methane is emitted which is one of the cause of the climate change and greenhouse gas. therefore, it is important the everyone of us spend on food that is just enough for us or cook food just enough for us to eat instead of having leftovers all the time that ends up going into the trash can. If there are leftovers or you think that you can't finish your meal, it would be best of you donate the food to the poor hungry people and at least find these poor people to feed. Everybody deserve to live one more day. You are not the only one that wants to live. "You should live simpler so that others can simply live"
